Privacy
Effective October 26, 2026. Mail it is operated by Jared Long. Contact ovenbeard@gmail.com for privacy requests.
Information we handle
We store your email identity, letter text and uploaded files, sender and recipient addresses, rendered proofs, order details, payment references and operational records. Essential browser cookies identify your drafts and signed-in session. We do not currently use advertising cookies or sell your letter contents.
First-party analytics
We measure visits and mailing steps on our own site with a random first-party browser identifier and a short list of fixed events. We do not collect letter content, proof images, addresses, emails, prompts, access tokens, raw page URLs or raw referrers in analytics. We do not use session replay, fingerprinting, advertising cookies or a third-party analytics vendor, and we do not sell or share analytics data. A QR or tearoff link visit is not proof of a physical scan, a unique person or a removed paper tab.
If you sign in, we may link that browser journey to an opaque account identifier and record account activity such as orders and payments. You can turn analytics off at any time below; a signed-in opt-out also stops future account measurement. Existing records remain in our local database and backups until handled through our privacy process. Essential service, security and payment records remain separate.
How it is used
We use this information to save drafts, show proofs and quotes, process orders, print and mail letters, provide support, prevent abuse and reconcile payments. Jared can access order contents and addresses to print and fulfill orders. This is a human-operated printing service, not an end-to-end encrypted messaging service.
Service providers
Railway hosts the application, stored documents and separate encrypted backups. Supabase manages sign-in identity, and Resend delivers login emails. Stripe processes payments and receives billing information you enter on its checkout page, order references and item prices. We do not send letter text or uploaded files to Stripe. Ordinary card checkout does not send mailing addresses. If prepaid tax pricing is separately activated, Stripe receives the destination street, city, state, postal code and country needed to calculate tax; it does not receive the letter contents. USPS receives the physical letter and mailing address for delivery. These providers process information needed for their roles.
Storage and retention
Saved drafts remain available for you to reuse until you request deletion or inactivity restrictions apply. Accounts with no saved-content or order activity for 365 days are checked daily and restricted from ordinary access, unless an unfinished order or retention hold requires the content. Contact support to reopen a restricted account for a new purpose. Required financial records are reviewed separately. Archiving hides a draft and does not permanently delete it. Request deletion from your privacy page; this immediately restricts content access through your account, connected assistants and API keys. We review unfinished orders, disputes and retention obligations before permanently removing content, including copies in assistant response caches and stored quotes. Necessary payment and audit records are reviewed separately. Encrypted recovery snapshots have a 30-day retention window and are checked daily for expiry. Older copies may remain until the next daily cleanup, normally within 31 days. Restores are blocked until current deletion requests are reapplied.
Your choices
You can export your saved content from your account. Use your privacy page to request deletion of saved content, or contact ovenbeard@gmail.com for access, correction, sign-in identity deletion or recipient-related requests. We will verify your identity before acting. Records that must be retained for legal or payment purposes may be restricted instead of deleted. Please do not submit highly sensitive personal information in letters or support emails.
Changes
We will update this page when data handling changes and show the effective date. Material changes affecting existing orders will be communicated when required.
