  1. Find the dispute address

Your bill or statement lists an address for billing questions or errors. It is often not the address you send payments to.

  2. Stick to the facts

Your name, your account, the charge and its date, why it is wrong and what you want done.

  3. We mail it

Pony prints it, addresses the envelope and hands it to USPS. No printer, envelope or stamp needed.

Good to know

  • Standard letters are not tracked and are not certified mail. If you need proof of delivery or must meet a deadline, use USPS Certified Mail instead.
  • Some disputes have a legal time limit, such as 60 days for a credit card billing error. If yours does, send it early by USPS Certified Mail so you can prove when it went out.
  • Use an account number or the last four digits of a card. Never include a full card number, Social Security number or a copy of your ID.
  • Good for wrong charges from a utility, gym, subscription or repair shop, and for bills you have already disputed by phone.

Questions

Can I dispute my credit report with this?

No. Credit bureau disputes usually ask for your Social Security number and a copy of your ID, and Pony does not handle government identifiers. Each bureau also takes disputes online.

Can I answer a debt collector?

You can write to them, but a request to verify a debt has a time limit. Send that one by USPS Certified Mail so you can prove the date.

Can I attach a receipt?

Yes. Upload it as a PDF or add it as a photo insert. Black out any full card number first.
